There you were
In a room full of people you stood out to me the most
It wasn’t your looks, it wasn’t your outfit, nothing like that
No I was called to you by a power stronger than either of us
See we connected quickly
And in that connection I witnessed years pass between us
We were an unbreakable bond
Think like the end of Hercules when he goes to save Meg and his life line becomes unbreakable
That was us
Nothing compared to us, nothing could break us
Except for you
You had all the power
You who turned out not to be Hercules but instead turned out to be the embodiment of Pain
It meant nothing to you to cut that bond
Watching you walk away from me was more painful than the cut
I think about seeing you that first time
Watching your eyes clench when you laughed
Watching our hands clasp around one another
We were unbreakable
Just like the Titanic was unsinkable...

Boy and girl meet for the first time. There’s an instant connection, it felt like everything aligned in the universe for them to meet. No one else in the universe had matched the same energy they were giving each other. The girl had never felt anything like this and she thought the boy felt it too. A year and a half of only spent on each other. They spent time finding out the different sides to each other. For a year and a half together they planned out a life together. It was perfect but there was a storm brewing that neither were prepared to face. They spent so much time together just for the boy to change his mind one day and ended their bond. Who does that? Where did it come from? Why did it happen so suddenly? The boy moved on, picked his heart up and continued with life. The girl was stuck, her heart still on the ground. She was so heart broken and all she could do was sit back and think of all of their memories. On a constant repeat in her mind, she couldn’t get rid of them. No matter what she did or who she was with, he always popped up in her mind. How did he still have this hold on her? Would it ever go away? She had so many thoughts going on in her brain that she felt like she was going to explode. So she wrote out her feelings hoping that they would provide some sort of release. She used analogies such as the scene in Hercules to represent how strong she thought her bond was. The poem ended with her connection to the Titanic. It’s a simile “we were unbreakable. Just like the titanic was unsinkable”. Everyone said how amazing the Titanic was, how it could never sink, the unsinkable ship. She related to that because everyone who saw her and the boy interact said they had an unbreakable bond.
